This is the event rescheduled from August 30th.
My old friend Nick Pynn — one of the most exciting and interesting musicians I know, incidentally — has been running this group for a while and I'm very excited that it's my turn to join in! They say:
Ben will be talking about fiddle playing, song accompaniment, ways of approaching music, and teaching you to play a Swedish tune and an American tune by ear.
Fiddle players, violinists, and in fact players of anything that can play a melody are welcome. We will be tune focussed and guitar accompaniment will be explored nearer the end of the session. Written music will be available on the night.
Ben will also be performing solo and with Nick Pynn in a set that includes some songs Ben learned from his dad Tom Paley who was an inspirational pioneer in the post war folk revival in the US and Europe.
Tea, coffee and beer will be available for suggested donation in the interval.
Fee for this workshop is £20 (£10 for DBS members)
